What is Beyond Conference…

The Beyond Conference started in 2017, when a group of Families and NextGen Pastors in Western Australia came together with a heart to grow in how we disciple the next generation.

We seek to go BEYOND what we’ve done before, BEYOND the Sunday morning programs, and Beyond our own understanding as we look to God for how we reach, raise and empower disciples in the next generations. That our kids and youth may grow deep roots, and a lasting faith.

All Kids, Youth and Family ministry pastors, NextGen leaders, volunteers, chaplains, and teachers. We can all get something out of going beyond.

Friday 16th August, 10am -2.30pm

Cost: $35 -  Includes morning tea and lunch

Keynote Speakers

Dave Jensen works as a pastor at Menai Anglican Church, and is also the assistant director of Evangelism New Churches, which seeks to partner with churches in Sydney and beyond to see the lost find life and hope in Jesus. He has developed the 'Discovering Jesus' evangelistic course, authored the short book 'What is a Christian?', and can be heard on the 'Explaining Christianity' Podcast: all of which are resources designed to help non-Christian people understand the truth about Jesus and be saved.

Prior to working in ministry, Dave was an Infantry officer in the Australian Army which is where someone told him the truth about Jesus and he became a Christian in his late twenties. Dave loves rugby league and cricket, but loves his wife Sammy and their 4 young sons even more.

 Dr Ruth Powell is Director of NCLS Research, a research centre that focuses on church vitality and community spirituality and wellbeing. Ruth has worked with NCLS Research since 1991 and became Director in 2007. She also holds a position as Associate Professor and Research Fellow, Public and Contextual Theology Research Centre, Charles Sturt University.

Major projects for NCLS Research include the five-yearly National Church Life Survey, which commenced in 1991 and forms the basis of one of the largest, most comprehensive databases on church life of its kind in the world. The 2016 NCLS included around a quarter of a million church attenders from 3000 local churches representing most Australian Christian denominations, from Catholic, Anglican, Uniting, other Protestant and Pentecostal faith traditions.

Ruth’s role involves managing research projects on both church and community life, as well as the development of resources for local churches, denominational leaders and other community agencies. Her own primary research interests lie in assisting churches to reflect on their interaction with the wider Australian community. As well as church health, and tracking changes in church life over time, she has worked on differences between age cohorts, and potential generational influences over time.
